Here’s five great reasons for you and your pet to use Vetkind
Our Services
Vetkind offers everything you would expect from a vet and more.
Here's just some of the services we offer.
Vaccinations & health checks
Whether you are getting a new puppy or kitten, or need an annual booster, we can advise on which vaccination protocol is appropriate for your pet.
Pet Microchips
Microchips are essential for reuniting lost pets with their owners . They are a legal requirement for dogs and are advisable for all cats.
Pet travel
Both Martha and Mhairi are approved Official Veterinarians. We can assist you with pet holidays and exports.
Management of chronic & geriatric conditions
As our pets age, we sometimes put medial conditions down to ‘old age’. We can help you recognise the signs of common geriatric diseases and manage these diseases in the comfort of your own home.
Acute medical conditions
We can examine your pet if they are under the weather to advise on and carry out any treatment or investigations that may be necessary.
Blood pressure check
High blood pressure is a threat in older cats that can easily go unchecked until it causes serious problems such as strokes and blindness.
Home Euthanasia
We understand making the decision to say goodbye to your companion is an extremely stressful and emotional time. At Vetkind, Martha and Mhairiwill be with you every step of the way.
Flea and worm prevention
We can advise on and prescribe the most appropriate parasite prevention products for your pet to keep creepy crawlies at bay.
Home-visit nurse
A visit from our nurse can be just the thing for you and your pet. Just like our vet visits, we offer long appointments of 30-40 minutes that allow us to get to know you and your pet and address any concerns or questions you might have.

Mhairi Fleming
Mhairi qualified as a vet in 2004 from Glasgow University. Since then she has worked in practice around the UK but decided to settle in Edinburgh. She has also volunteered her time in many charity clinics and wildlife projects, mainly in Asia. She enjoys being a mobile vet as it allows her the time and space required to really get to know an animal and owner and allows case continuity that can sometimes be difficult in a traditional practice setting. She has an interest in geriatric medicine, ophthalmology and wildlife medicine. When not at work she spends time trying to keep her young family in order and walking her dog Cody.

Martha Murphy
Martha graduated in 2008 from Edinburgh University. She spent a few years in small animal practice before pursuing her special interest in feline medicine by taking a job at an exclusively feline clinic, and completing a distance learning feline medicine certificate from the University of Sydney. While she adores all animals, she continues to nurture her interest in all things cat, and is passionate about reducing the stresses of veterinary care for her patients. Over the last few years Martha has loved working as a home visit vet to be able to get to know her patients in their own environment and form strong bonds with their owners too. In her spare time, with the help of her partner and three lovely stepdaughters, she enjoys looking after her lively furry / spikey / scaly menagerie which includes her two cats Walter and Ernest, a rescue African Pygmy Hedgehog, and a marine aquarium.

"Martha provided an excellent kind, caring and compassionate service to us in our time of need when she helped my Issy pass away, would highly recommend Vetkind."
– Kelly"Excellent service. Highly recommend. They love your animals. I wouldn’t take my cat to any vet other than Vetkind. They come to my home and attend to my cat. Totally stress free for us both. Wonderful."
– Marilyn"Thank you Mhairi! Excellent treatment and peace of mind. It's great to not have to bundle the cat into a carrier, will definitely use again!"
– Hugh"Absolutely lovely vet. Came on time, was very kind and bribed the cat with treats. No rush at all, sat and had a nice chat to address all of my concerns. Worth every penny and what a relief for my cat, who didn't need to got to a clinic. Thank you!"

Red, Colinton
Red always used to get anxious going to the vets. Now, Mhairi visits Red in his home for his annual boosters, and occasionally when he hurts his shoulder, an old injury that sometimes flares up when he runs round too quickly!

Yasmin, Morningside
Yasmin is terrified of travelling in the car to the clinic. She has high blood pressure and has it checked in the comfort of her own home every few months by Mhairi. A big paws up for not having to go in the cat carrier from Yasmin!

Leila, Musselburgh
Leila loves when Martha comes to visit. Leila suffers from car sickness and gets herself into quite a state when she has to travel which is stressful for her and her owner. They have Martha over for Leila's annual booster and to apply flea and worm treatments as Leila is a bit of a hunter! She absolutely loves Martha's calming spray and the cat treats she carries in her bag.

Angus, Leith
Angus the cheeky ferret developed a problem with his adrenal glands, causing discomfort and hair loss. Martha visited him at home and fitted an implant to reduce his hormone levels. Although there isn't a cure for his condition, he has more energy and his hair is growing back. And as a bonus, no car journey to the vets!
