Both Martha and Mhairi are approved Official Veterinarians, meaning we can assist you with pet holidays and exports. Wherever you’re going, we can help you.
If you want to travel with your pet in Europe, you will now need and an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) that we must issue to you within 10 days of travel. Pet passports are no longer valid, although you can still use them to return to the UK if you are currently abroad. The AHC is only valid for one trip of a maximum of 4 months. That means you will need a new AHC issued every time you travel with your pet. In addition to an AHC your pet must be microchipped, and they must have had a rabies vaccination at least 21 days before they travel.
There is also a requirement that your pet has to be treated for tapeworm between 1 and 5 days of travel before returning to the UK so you will need to find a vet at your destination who can handle this for you.
We can also help with requirements for longer journeys and emigration. Every country has different rules and requirements, so we advise you use a pet travel company to guide you along the way if you are planning to travel your animal outside of Europe.
We can then carry out any vaccinations, blood tests, treatments and certification required.
Please contact us well in advance of travel as timing is everything!
