Thank you for entrusting the care of your animal to Vetkind. By registering your animal with Vetkind you are agreeing to have read and understood our terms of business. We are happy to provide any clarification you require.
- Services
Vetkind is a mobile veterinary service covering Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. All consultations, investigations and treatments are carried out at the home of the patient unless referral to a static clinic is required. In these situations we can arrange and direct you appropriately. Although we aim to be available, there may be times when a vet is unavailable to visit you, and in these situations, you will be required to visit a practice if the animal needs veterinary attention. Practices we currently have an agreement with are Braid Vets, Dundas Veterinary Group and Animac.
- Client registrations
We are always happy to take on new clients. Vetkind will take on responsibility for all ongoing aspects of your pets’ health care, routine and otherwise. However, we are happy to provide only part of a veterinary service if this is your wish but in agreement with another practice, either of your choice or one of the practices we have an existing agreement with. We will request any medical records for your pet from previous vets that they are registered with.
- Fees
Fees are expected to be paid at the time of consultation and bills can be settled either by debit or credit card, by cash or cheque. We may at times send an invoice to be paid online within 5 days. You will be sent a reminder for any outstanding bills and we reserve the right to withhold any further treatment if any bill is left unpaid.
- Repeat examinations
To ensure compliance with our professional regulations, we require to examine your pet at frequent intervals to dispense medication. This interval will depend on your individual animal and condition treated but will be no less than every 6 months. For geriatric conditions, every 3 months would be more typical.
- Emergency and out of hours care
For out of hours care, we are served by e-vets, based at Braid vets, 171 Mayfield Road. This is a dedicated 24-hour emergency clinic. Out of hours consultations start from £132.89. We will be informed of any treatment carried out here and will take on any necessary aftercare after hospitalisation.
Prescriptions
We carry most medications with us to be available at an appointment but can also order in medications as required. We will deliver or post these to your door. We can also provide written prescriptions on request for you to source veterinary medicines from elsewhere. Written prescriptions cost £18.40 for the first prescription and £12.80 for subsequent prescriptions. Prescriptions will cover a maximum of 3 months of medication or 6 months for parasite prevention medications.
- Missed appointments
We reserve the right to charge a missed appointment fee if we turn up for an appointment and nobody is in. This will be £45, payable by invoice and will be waived only at the discretion of the veterinary surgeon. If you cannot make an appointment then you are required to give reasonable notice.
- Complaints
We aim to deliver a high-quality service and keep our clients and their pets happy. The most common reason for unhappiness is due to a lack of communication, so if something is bothering you then please talk to us! If you feel you would like to put in a complaint then please do so in writing and we can guide you through the correct procedure.
- Reminders
We endeavour to send reminders for annual vaccinations but as glitches sometimes happen, it is ultimately your responsibility to keep vaccinations up to date.
- Data protection
Your pets’ medical records and reports will remain the property of Vetkind and will be kept digitally in our practice management system with accordance to data protection laws. They will be made available to you if required and also if another vet requests the history e.g. in an emergency or when using one our agreed practices for further treatment.
